What Makes a Good Halal Comedy Venue

A clean comedy show needs five things. We deliver all five:

1. A real stage — not a raised platform in a corner. Ours is 10m × 4m × 0.6m high, with a single spot light pointing at the centre. The audience can see the comedian. The comedian can see who's laughing.
2. A good mic and PA — Shure SM58, hand-held with a stable cable, 2× monitor wedges, line-array FOH. Comedy lives or dies on intelligibility. Our PA is rated for full music gigs, so a single voice comes through crystal clear.
3. Lighting that sells the moment — house lights down, single spot up, dramatic but not blinding. We pre-program it so you don't fiddle with a desk during your run-of-show.
4. Tiered or angled seating — every audience member can see the comedian's face. We do cabaret seating (round tables of 8) or theatre seating (rows). Cabaret is more sociable; theatre is denser per square metre.
5. A green room — somewhere the headliner and openers can warm up, run through their bits, eat halal food and avoid pre-show audience contact. Our green room has a sofa, mirror, fridge, kettle and a TV with the live stage feed.
