Birmingham's Most Flexible Exhibition & Pop-Up Space
A genuinely versatile exhibition space in Birmingham is hard to find. Most halls are designed for weddings and won't let you screw plinths into the floor, hang heavy artwork from the ceiling, or staff a 4-week exhibition. Most galleries are too small (under 100m²) or too institutional in tone. LUXE VENUE bridges that gap: 500m² of clean, blackout-capable floor area; lighting that can be aimed; walls that can take wall-mounted artwork; full kitchen for opening-night receptions; and we hire it from one day up to a full month at a time.
If you're putting on an art show, an Islamic calligraphy exhibition, a charity awareness exhibition, a pop-up retail event, a trade fair for Asian businesses, a graduate art show or a heritage exhibition, this page covers your options.
Floor Area & Layouts
The main hall is roughly 22m × 14m (300m²) with a connecting foyer (90m²) and a green room (40m²) for staff/talent — total flexible area approximately 430m². For larger events the breakout rooms also open up to add a further 70m².
Typical exhibition layouts we deliver:
- Open gallery — perimeter wall-hang + 6–10 floor plinths in centre — suits 60–120 individual pieces
- Booth grid — 18–24 booths of 2m × 2m for trade or pop-up retail exhibitors
- Curated narrative path — sectioned with portable screens to walk visitors through a story
- Reception + display — front foyer as canapé reception, main hall as exhibition itself
- Multi-room split — main hall as main exhibition, breakout rooms as workshop / VIP / private demo spaces

Lighting — Why This Matters For Exhibitions
Bad lighting destroys an exhibition. We use a combination of fixed and movable LED lighting:
- Ambient white wash — 100% dimmable, you set the mood
- Aimed accent spots — 24 fixtures we can re-aim onto individual pieces
- Daylight-balanced (5600K) panels — for photo-friendly setups (Instagram-worthy without re-lighting)
- Wall-wash strips — to highlight hanging artwork without hot spots
- UV-protective filtering — gels on standard lighting to protect light-sensitive pieces (paper, calligraphy, textiles)
For art exhibitions we typically programme the lighting 24 hours before the opening — once it's right, it stays right for the run.
Opening-Night Receptions & Refreshments
An exhibition without an opening reception is just a quiet room. Our HMC Halal kitchen produces:
- Canapé service — 6 pieces per head, £14 — popular with art exhibitions and charity events
- Mocktail bar — Virgin Mojitos, mint lemonade, mango lassi — £6/head
- Tea/coffee station — Kahwa, masala chai, cardamom coffee — £4/head all day
- Light bites — samosas, kebabs, chaat platter — £8/head
- Sit-down opening dinner — for VIP-focused launches, £28/head

Why We Suit Islamic / Cultural Exhibitions Specifically
Many Birmingham gallery spaces refuse calligraphy and Islamic-themed exhibitions, citing "secular" curation policies. We actively welcome them. Our team understands:
- Right-to-left text orientation in display layouts
- Quranic verse handling protocols (above eye level, no foot-pointing layouts)
- Prayer accommodation for exhibitors during the day
- Halal-only catering through the duration
- Modest-attire-friendly visitor environment
- Gender-separated workshops if requested
Insurance, Security & Overnight Storage
Multi-day exhibitions need security. We include:
- Locked alarmed doors with motion sensors overnight
- CCTV — 12 cameras covering the hall, foyer and exterior
- Optional SIA-licensed overnight security officer — £160/night
- Goods-in liability insurance up to £25,000 included; higher cover available
For high-value works (£25k+ per piece) please advise so we can arrange additional cover.
